A COLNE Valley conservation group has helped to repair a Slaithwaite path.

The work - costing £14,500 - has been done just in time to benefit walkers working off the excesses of Christmas.

The Friends of Slaithwaite Spa called in professional landscapers to reinstall steps and pathways through land at Spa View.

The path had been surveyed and was found to be in a critical condition.

The Friends group was set up to raise cash to upgrade the old spa complex in the village.

Money has come from the BTCV conservation group, Kirklees Council and The Community Spirit charity shop at Slaithwaite.

Further work at the spa site - scheduled to take place over the following months - includes tree planting, woodland and meadow maintenance.
