THE Lepton prankster has struck again!

Hours after the Examiner reported on the fake speed camera in the village, a Mark 2 version has been erected.

The new camera is at the same location in Gawthorpe Green Lane. But it now boasts a state of the art bright yellow camera housing, a realistic lens - and even a maker's name.

It reads: Pranko Mark 2 Copyright.

And it certainly works. Drivers using the road this morning visibly slowed down as they approached the gleaming yellow box, mounted on a pole at the roadside, and the stripes laid across the road as markings.

Local residents are remaining tight-lipped as to who is behind the cunning plan to slow down traffic.

But there have been concerns for some time that many motorists are using Gawthorpe Green Lane, which runs from Lepton to Kirkheaton, as a rat run to avoid the busy traffic junctions at Waterloo.

One resident said: "Whoever is behind the fake cameras will get the grateful thanks of a lot of people living around Lepton."
