VILLAGERS came out in force to mark the annual Hepworth Feast.

Pupils at Hepworth Junior and Infant School and other villagers marched along with Hepworth Band.

On the way the walkers took part in a united singing of hymns.

The annual feast was then held.

The event is said to date back to about 1667, when it was held to give thanks for the end of the Great Plague, which swept through Britain from 1665.

Local legend says that during the plague a barricade was made at Barrack's Fold, to prevent diseased villagers in south Hepworth infecting those in the northern part of the village.
