VILLAGERS are being consulted about plans to transform the Westgate area of Honley.

A public meeting is being staged to find volunteers who will help with the design.

The gathering is being held after plans were announced earlier this year to deal with road safety.

A pedestrian crossing was identified as the top priority.

A Kirklees Council spokesman said: "We want to improve the street environment for everyone."

The first public meeting to deal with the issues is at Honley Village Hall on Tuesday, September 28, starting at 7.30pm.

A working party will be set up to develop ideas.
