THE impact of potential housing and shopping developments will be debated at a village meeting.
It comes after people living in Kirkburton and Highburton voiced fears about the effects of schemes which are in the pipeline.
Their worries will be debated at Kirklees Council's Kirkburton area committee. Villagers are being urged to attend to have their say.
Committee chairman Clr Mark Hemingway said: "Development should take into account what would enhance village life and not just what will meet the Government's housing targets.
"If consideration isn't given to retaining village life and building a sense of community we will end up with inner city problems in our rural villages."
The meeting is being held on Wednesday, January 24, at the Salvation Army Hall on Riley Lane, Kirkburton, starting at 7.30pm.
Reported anti-social behaviour and concerns that there are not enough things for young people to do are also on the agenda.
Kirklees officials have been invited to the meeting to discuss the general impact of housing and retail developments and how they will affect services and facilities in the villages.
