A VINTAGE fair takes place in Byram Arcade on Westgate tomorrow.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm and is part of the Festival of Light weekend.

The arcade is already home to more than 20 independent retailers and cafes and has seen a resurgence as retailers expand their businesses and new shops move in.

Three have opened over the past few months and there have been several major refurbishments.

One of the new businesses is joke and fancy dress shop – Cranks and Pranks – opened by owner Darren Crank who’s fond memories of growing up in Huddersfield have inspired his business idea. “Growing up I always remember going into the joke shop in town and spending my pocket money,’’ he said.

Joining Cranks and Pranks are a new nail bar Square Ten Nail Salon and photography gallery Black Light Gallery.

Byram Arcade will be staying open until late tonight and tomorrow as aerial performers Urban Angels are suspended from the rafters for Festival of Light
