“This is what I want to do with my life”.

The words of Huddersfield singer Georgia Harrup as she reflected on the ending of her journey on the TV talent show The Voice.

“It has given me a taste and I know I want to carry on singing”, said the 27-year-old from Lepton.

Georgia - who made it through the live shows, featuring 12 singers - was one of four who were voted off the show last Saturday evening.

But the girl who secured a place in Team Tom, headed by legendary Sir Tom Jones, is determined to make the most of her talents that were recognised by the judges.

She spoke to the Examiner after appearing on The Voice Louder on BBC2, a spin-off show fronted by Zoe Ball.

Georgia got to play an acoustic version of the song Money on My Mind by Sam Smith, which she sang on Saturday.

“Obviously I’m disappointed it has ended but I have had a great opportunity given to me and what I aim to do now is to use that.

“I need to take a little time and look at all the options. It is going to take time to get through all my messages and emails but I am determined to go on singing.

The Mayor of Kirklees has been in touch about some charity concerts which I would love to do and I also want to come home to Huddersfield and put on some gigs in the town.

“People have definitely not heard the last of Georgia Harrup. It is what I want to do for a living and I have to go out and prove I have the skills to do it.

“I am really grateful for all the support I did get during the series, especially from people in Huddersfield and I want to make the most of it”.
