YOUNGSTERS at Carousel Day Nursery tucked into a hearty breakfast as part of a national event to get children eating healthily.

The nursery, based at Upperthong, took part in the annual National Day Nurseries Association’s (NDNA) Big Breakfast month.

The theme of this year’s event is breakfast around the world, and staff and children at Carousel Day Nursery decided on a French theme.

They donned stripy tops and nibbled their way through croissants, and a range of healthy foods, including fresh fruit and yoghurt.

Big Breakfast month gives nurseries the chance to explore healthy breakfasts in a fun, positive way, enabling children, parents and staff to sit down and share breakfast time together.

Now in its fourth year, Big Breakfast has been incorporated into the NDNA’s ongoing ‘healthy body, happy me’ campaign which aims to give children the energy for play, learning and fun.

Children at Carousel Day Nursery spent a week trying out new and exciting foods, and enjoyed it so much that staff are hoping to introduce regular breakfast times.
