BUDDING engineers and scientists got the chance to showcase their efforts at Huddersfield University.

Sixteen teams of sixth form students have been working with local companies on the Engineering Education Scheme in England (EESE).

At the end of the six-month scheme, sponsored by the university, the projects were assessed by experts from business and education.

The teams included a group from Greenhead College who worked with Borg Warner Turbo Systems to produce an application device for lubricating machines.

Heckmondwike Grammar School took part in a project sponsored by David Brown Gears.

Chris Harris, regional director for charity EDT, which aims to inspire young people to choose a career in science, said: “With the students’ innovation and inspiration I am sure a number of projects will go on to be adopted by their partner companies.”
