PUBGOERS are being asked to get on the phone to help a local pub win a national award - and raise money for a good cause.

Shaun and Elaine Fountain, who run the Martin's Nest on Bradford Road, Brighouse, have won their way to the finals of the Punch Pub Company Shine Awards, a competition which is open to Punch's 4,500 pubs.

They now have to beat eight other finalists from around the country to win the national prize.

They are relying on local residents to pick up the phone and vote for them.

Shaun said: "It's been a great thrill just getting through to the finals. But the competition is really hotting up and I need as many people in the area as possible to vote for me so I can bring this award home to Yorkshire."

For every phone and text and vote received the full £1 charge will be given to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

To vote for Shaun and Elaine phone 0906 730-2703 or text vote Shaun and Elaine to 88025. Voting ends at midnight on Friday, October 10.
