COUNCIL staff took to bikes to remind people to vote in the elections.

They toured Huddersfield town centre with the message: Return your forms in time.

It will be the first ever all-postal ballot in Kirklees and the first time that all the council seats have been up for election at the same time for more than 20 years.

Because each ward has three councillors, all electors will be able to vote for up to three candidates on the ballot paper.

A total of 69 councillors will be elected in 23 wards - one fewer ward than at present due to new local government boundaries.

Posters have also gone up at bus shelters and in libraries in the bid to boost voting.
