ROBBERS targeted a man with learning difficulties to steal his life savings.

Two men got into the 48-year-old man’s home on Whinney Hill Park in Brighouse between 11am and noon on Wednesday.

One of them dragged him to the floor while the other stole a safe containing a substantial amount of cash.

The pair then fled.

The victim was shaken but not injured in the incident.

Det Insp Tony Nicholson, of Calderdale CID, said: “This was a despicable robbery committed against a vulnerable man and I would appeal directly to people in the community to let us know who did it.

“The victim has had all of his money taken from him.

“It is highly unlikely that this was a random attack. The victim is known to be vulnerable and people knew he kept cash on the premises.”

One of the robbers is white and the other black.

The black man was seen running out of the garden towards a set of garages.

The white man ran up a nearby ginnel.

Det Insp Nicholson added: “Enquiries into this matter are ongoing but we need people to help us identify those responsible so we can bring them to justice.

“Specialist officers are working with the victim.

“We also have officers out and about making house-to-house enquiries but we need people to come forward.”

Witnesses should call Calderdale CID on 0845 6060606.
