BRAVE Allan Hunter completed the Great North Run - at walking pace.
The 56-year-old head of an Elland engineering firm had surgery for bowel cancer in the summer.
He was warned not to run - so he decided to walk the half- marathon instead.
Determined Allan has announced that his effort has netted £4,000 so far for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Surgeons have confirmed that Mr Hunter is clear of the disease after his treatment.
He finished the 13.1-mile course in 3hr 9min.
"Not bad for an old `un," he joked.
Allan said he had been astonished by the generosity of supporters.
He has set up a website where more donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/allanhunter
