MORE than 200 greyhounds descended on Huddersfield town centre to raise money for a rescue home.

Tia Greyhound Rescue's fundraisers are trying to raise £250,000 so the charity can move from Sowerby Bridge to new premises.

The sponsored dog walk, which started at Huddersfield Technical College, raised £2,000 on the day and more is expected once pledges have been collected.

Fundraising co-ordinator Susan Dawson said everyone - man and beast - had lots of fun.

"It was a brilliant turnout. This is the second year running we have done the walk but this time we had some stalls on the Piazza and other things to make it more of an event," she said.

"All the money raised will go towards our property appeal."
