A NEW trades directory aimed at keeping out the cowboys is still aiming to find more reputable traders in Kirklees.
West Yorkshire Trading Standards' Home Services Directory is an initiative aimed at giving consumers an easy access guide to reputable traders in their area.
In the last six months Consumer Direct, Trading Standards' complaints call centre has received nearly 2,500 complaints from West Yorkshire consumers about dodgy building work.
The Home Service Directory will only feature traders who have been vetted by Trading Standards, police and courts and can also provide references from satisfied customers.
Clr Tony Brice, who is a member of the Trading Standards Committee, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for legitimate businesses to distinguish themselves from rogue traders who we want to discourage from operating in West Yorkshire."
