FIREFIGHTERS were tackling a massive fire at a Primark warehouse today.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue were called to the blaze at the 300sq metre premises in Lutterworth yesterday evening.

About 15 fire engines responded to the call, a fire and rescue spokesman said.

Leicestershire Police said they were called to the Magna Park site at 7.26pm in support of the fire and rescue service.

A force spokesman said: "An investigation has commenced into the cause of the fire, but at this stage it's not possible to ascertain."

The warehouse, which contained stocks of clothes, and offices were completely destroyed in the flames. No one is believed hurt in the blaze.

"It was full of clothes so it was obviously going to spread very quickly," the fire and rescue service spokesman said.

"It was a very intense fire, which rapidly spread and the building collapsed at an early stage. It's pretty much 100% damage to the building, but no one was injured."
