PEOPLE are being warned to insist on identification from unknown visitors after an 83-year-old woman from Bradley and a 51-year-old woman from Rawthorpe fell prey to burglars.

Two men knocked at the pensioner’s home in Sherwood Avenue around 11am yesterday and said drains needed unblocking.

She let them in and while she was running the taps they searched her home.

They then asked for £25 cash which she gave them and made off.

An hour later in Brownroyd Avenue, two men made off with a postal order, computer games and a bottle of champagne after saying they needed to put dye through the woman’s drains.

The men were white and in their late 20s. One was around 5ft 10in and the other much shorter. Both had short dark hair.

They initially wore cream overalls then put on yellow high visibility vests.
