A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a man who admitted causing the death of a newly- wed couple in an horrific car crash.

Damien Sylvester, 26, of Hopkinson Road, Brackenhall, failed to turn up for his sentence at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

Paul and Zoe Williams had only been married for 12 hours when the car they were back seat passengers in crashed and burst into flames at the junction of the M1 and M62 in August last year.

Sylvester pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was due to be sentenced, but failed to show up when the case was called on.

His barrister John Elvidge told the judge that Sylvester had been at court in the morning but said that he could offer no explanation as to why he had left.

Judge Rodney Grant issued a warrant for his arrest which is not backed by bail.

Mr and Mrs Williams, who lived at Newsome Road, Newsome, had just been married at the town's register office.

Paul had three children from a previous relationship and Zoe had two.
