Hundreds of scouts led a parade to celebrate St George’s Day.

The event took place in Beaumont Park on Sunday and involved around 400 members of the Huddersfield South West District.

They paraded from the lodge gates down the main drive to the park’s bandstand.

There they sang campfire songs and renewed their scouting promise.

The group then paraded back to the lodge, passing the saluting bay below the bandstand.

They were accompanied by Huddersfield Brass Band and overseen by the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Ken Smith, and other dignitaries.

It was the fifth year of the group holding the parade in the park, due to it being so well received in previous years.

There are eight groups in the district and ages of those involved in the event ranged from six to 25.

It’s seen as a good opportunity for all of the members to get together and look forward to future activities in the year.
