These CCTV images capture the moment a brazen motorcyclist gang raided one of Huddersfield’s best-known jewellers.
Four thieves on two bikes fled with five valuable items now said to be worth £20,000 from exclusive Walkers Jewellers in Market Walk in the town centre.
At first it was feared they may have escaped with as much as £60,000.
Two pillion passengers jumped off the bikes at 4.30pm on Tuesday with one smashing a window with a sledgehammer and grabbing their haul which was then thrown into an open rucksack.
The owner’s husband, David Walker, was verbally threatened during the incident when he attempted to intervene.
Detectives are now analysing dramatic CCTV footage of the raid which lasted no more than a couple of minutes.
Det Insp George Bardell from Kirklees CID reiterated his plea for help in providing information.
He said the raid was carried out at a busy time of day and may have been captured by members of the public on their mobile phones.
Walkers staff member Julie Sternbeck said: “We are pleased to announce that Walkers Jewellers The Old Shop is now open and sparkling as usual.
“The stock items taken were minimal amounting to considerably less than first estimated, with each piece being very distinct.
“Thank you to the community for all your kind words of support. Our beautiful shop has been in Huddersfield since 1852 and we feel honoured to continue the tradition.”
