UNDER-FIRE Labour parish councillor Roy Dobson is to be reported to a watchdog body in a row over plans for a village community centre.

An action group fighting to get the Grange Moor scheme off the ground is planning the action.

Mr Dobson said Kirkburton Parish Council had allocated £20,000 to the project.

It was later discovered the money could go to other schemes.

The Grange Moor Community Action Group accused Mr Dobson of trying to hijack the project for his own political ends.

The group says it will complain to the Standards Board.

It says Mr Dobson has broken the parish council code of conduct.

The group's chairman, John Peters, said: "I would like to point out that some parish council members do not seem to understand the rules of the code of conduct that they all had to sign when they became members.

"It does come across that one or two need to go back to school and learn the code."

It will be the second time Mr Dobson has been under the scrutiny of the Standards Board.

In April, 2004, he was found guilty of repeated harassment of the council clerk, after haranguing her over her salary and whether she was working agreed extra hours.

The parish council ordered him to apologise to clerk Angela Royle, but he refused.

Speaking about the latest complaint, Mr Dobson said: "If that's what they're intending they're quite free to do so.

"It's not in my remit to prevent them doing anything.

"All we're looking for is a bit of common sense on the issue."
