A MAN claiming to be from the ‘water board’ stole cash and bedding from a Huddersfield pensioner’s house.

The 80-year-old victim heard a knock on the door of the mid-terraced bungalow in High Street, Paddock, between 8.30pm and 9pm last night.

A man said he was checking the water supply and asked the victim to turn on the kitchen taps.

While the victim was doing this the thief searched the bedroom, then escaped through its window

The thief is aged about 40, short and of medium build. He has short grey hair and wore dark jeans and a white jacket.
