A WATERLOO runner will be giving cancer patients a boost when he takes part in the London Marathon next week.

Sean Fennell, 43, will be running for Kirkwood Hospice when he competes in the 26-mile event on April 25.

It will be the second time Sean has taken up the challenge after completing the course in 2007.

But knowing what to expect this time makes the race even more daunting, according to the married dad-of one.

Sean said: “Last time I was excited and a bit naive, but this year I know what it involves.

“It is really tough. It is a long way round and it is a little bit frightening this time.

“But I know it can be done and whatever I go through can be nothing compared to what the hospice patients go through so I’ll get on with it.”

He hope to raise hundreds of pounds for the Dalton hospice.
