A 21-YEAR-OLD from Meltham has become a Royal Marines Commando.

Wayne Lambert, pictured, has successfully completed the gruelling 32-week training course, regarded by many as the hardest initial training in the world.

The former Honley High pupil earned the coveted green beret at the Commando Training centre at Lympstone in Devon.

Wayne said: "The training is hard and challenging which is why I chose the Royal Marines.

"It's been a fantastic experience. As a Royal Marines Commando I can operate on land, sea or air and it's this that makes it so exciting."

He has joined 42 Commando which is part of the UK's Rapid Reaction Force.
