Gales are again expected to hit Huddersfield at the weekend.

Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens warned that the strong winds could hit 60mph and will be accompanied by driving rain.

Today saw a cloudy day with strong winds in some areas, expected to hit 45mph in parts by this evening.

Mr Stevens added: “Saturday will start off bright and chilly but cloud will thicken quickly again from the west with gales developing through the afternoon along with some heavy rain and squally rain.

“There could be gusts of up to 50-60mph clearing to colder conditions through the evening with a few wintry showers on Saturday night.

“Sunday will be another very windy day with bands of rain sweeping from the west some heavy with some sleet and wet snow to start with.

“Gales will develop and continue for much of the day with gusts again up to 50-60mph.”
