KIRKLEES Council has won an award for making its website easy to read.
The www.kirklees. gov.uk has been given the Internet Crystal Mark by the Plain English Campaign.
It checked out the website's content, design and layout.
Chrissie Maher, director of the Plain English Campaign, said: "This site is a great example of how plain English is a more efficient way to communicate.
"Clear information means people will be less likely to need to phone or write with questions.
"The site shows how technology can make life easier. Visitors can find the answer to their question quickly without having to wade through irrelevant details."
Clr Paul Battye, council cabinet member for administration and business, said: "More and more people are using our website to get information and to request services.
"The Internet Crystal Mark shows we are serious about making our website as easy to use as possible."
