CELEBRITY Declan Donnelly swapped TV presenting for a more religious role.

The star was asked to perform the blessing at a Holmfirth man's wedding.

Declan - one half of TV duo Ant and Dec - had a special licence to give the blessing when a friend, Simon Hargreaves, married Tara Hickman in a villa in the Tuscan hills above Pisa, northern Italy.

Simon met Declan nine years ago, while Ant and Dec were performing as pop duo PJ and Duncan.

Simon was working for record label Sony UK and is now head of Press for the company.

He grew up in Holmfirth and his father, Keith, still lives there.

His mother, Pam Hargreaves, lives in New Zealand.

Tara, a make-up artist, is from London. She is the daughter of Judith and the late Alfie Hickman.

The wedding was a low-key affair for family and friends.

They included one of Simon's friends, Scott Hessel, who runs the Trattoria restaurant at Honley.

The guests celebrated the wedding at a reception which included a firework display, swimming and dancing on the villa's candle-lit lawns.
