HUDDERSFIELD basked in the warmest day of the year so far.

Temperatures yesterday rose to 24º Celsius (75ºF) which put the town on a par with resorts such as Benidorm 25ºC (77ºF), Nice 25ºC (77ºF) and Palma de Mallorca 23.3°C (74ºF).

It brought families out into the parks and town centre to enjoy the sun.

But Huddersfield weather expert Paul Stevens warned that it’s likely to be much cooler and wetter over the next few days.

He said it was a spell of weather likely to be repeated throughout the summer, with good warm and dry spells followed by wet and windy days.

“Yesterday was the warmest so far this year, topping the 22.7ºC we reached in those good days in May and it was really very pleasant.

“Today we should see the temperature drop a few degrees and we are likely to have some showers and even a possible thunderstorm.

“That should be the picture into next week when we might see a few more days of warm, dry and sunny weather, which I think will be the pattern throughout the summer.”
