CALDERDALE Council were today criticised for the way they handled new contracts for bin collection.

A huge inquiry into the authority's switch to a new system saw council officials condemned and some may now be disciplined.

Now Calderdale Council’s Chief Executive, Owen Williams, says he will be suggesting to members that they accept in full the recommendations of an independent report into the way in which the Council’s waste collection contract was awarded - including the criticism.

"The report highlights a number of unacceptable issues relating to the procurement process and the judgement and decision making of a small number of Council staff. As a result it will be necessary to consider whether there are any disciplinary issues that need to be dealt with."
