BEAUMONT Park promises to bring down the curtain on its successful summer of events in style this weekend – with a spectacular Heritage Day.

The 29-acre Victorian park, which has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, will stage the day of family fun on Sunday.

And the Friends of Beaumont Park, the hard-working volunteer group behind the park’s ambitious restoration programme, are confident their final event will be a great end to a summer of events which have seen thousands of visitors flocking to the park.

A variety of attractions aimed at people of all ages are on offer, including roundabouts, a miniature railway, Punch and Judy and a vintage car rally.

A swing band will be on hand to entertain guests from noon to 1.30pm, while the popular Lindley Band will be playing some toe-tapping tunes from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Other attractions will include horticultural walks and food in the Visitor Centre from 11am.

Visitors paying their first visit to the park this year will notice that the Friends have made many improvements in their mission to restore the park to its former glory.

Recent improvements include a massive clearing operation and work to restore the pond and cascade feature.
