SLIMMERS are turning the pounds they shed in weight into pounds for a Huddersfield charity.

People attending Weightwatchers classes in Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Almondbury and Shepley have been donating cash to Kirkwood Hospice.

Between now and Christmas, Weightwatchers leader Dot Bush has asked people in her classes in the three areas to donate 10p each week if they put on weight and 20p if they lose weight.

She said: "The incentive is to lose weight and help others. It is like swapping lbs for £s.

"It's going very well. I'm very pleased. The members were really up for it. Some have been putting over and above the amounts I asked for in each week.

"The hospice needs the money. It is fantastic."
