GOLCAR will go back in time this weekend as 18th Century soldiers march through the village.

Members of His Majesty’s 33rd Regiment of Foot Re-enactment Group will parade along Church Street to Colne Valley Museum.

The regiment, which was once commanded by the Duke of Wellington, was nicknamed the Havercake Lads in honour of the oatcakes used to tempt young men into signing up.

The re-enactment group will march to Colne Valley Museum on Sunday afternoon to see how the traditional food is made.

Museum volunteer Jane Lee will be giving oatcake-making demonstrations from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
