WESLEY Carter used to eat unhealthy food and did little physical activity.

But, after nine weeks on the MEND programme, the 10-year-old is eating more healthily, enjoying being active and has had to buy new clothes because of the weight he has lost.

The Batley youngster said: “MEND was different to anything I’d done before and I really enjoyed it, particularly the swimming.

“One of the best parts was making new friends.”

Wesley and his mum Wendy attended the weekly sessions at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre.

She said it had helped her family change their eating habits and added: “Wesley is much more confident and is now encouraging his brother and sister to take part in exercise.”
