DOZENS of high school pupils performed a musical last week.

Some 150 children from Holmfirth High School put on West Side Story.

The Year 7 to Year 11 pupils have been rehearsing since September.

Musical director Jo Brear said: “West Side Story is a very difficult play because the musical is quite technical and the scene changes are difficult but the pupils have handled it very well”

Four nights of performances started last Wednesday. Tickets costing £6, with £4 concessions, sold out within 24 hours.

Jo said: “We’re happy that it sold out so quickly and we expected a full house of 220 each night.”

West Side Story is directed by Clare Gurd.
