Next week will see a series of fire strikes after The Fire Brigades Union called for eight consecutive days of action.

They start on Monday and finish the following Monday.

Firefighters will be on strike from Monday to Thursday from 6am to 8am each morning and 5pm to 7pm every evening.

On Friday it will be 6am to 8am and again from 11pm to 1am on Saturday.

Next Saturday they will be striking from 11am to 1pm and from 11pm to 1am on Sunday.

On Sunday the times are 5pm to 7pm and on Monday, July 21 from 6am to 8am and 5pm to 7pm.

Firefighters took part in the public sector strikes on Thursday.

Assistant Chief Fire Office Dave Walton said: “This series of strikes sees a change in tactics by the Fire Brigades Union. We will now have to manage short duration, more frequent strikes for an extended period of time.

“We have worked hard to develop a contingency plan for just this type of scenario, which ensures that we provide the best possible level of emergency cover for West Yorkshire, given the limited resources we will have available.”
