POLICE are to target firework “hotspots” in West Yorkshire to prevent trouble.
They will work with West Yorkshire Trading Standards officers to make sure this bonfire night is one of the safest.
A target for their patrols will be retailers with history of non-compliance with firework legislation, who will be checked over sales.
And anyone misusing fireworks in the run-up to November 5 will also face action from the police and consumer officials.
Clr Mohan Sokhal, a Kirklees member of the Trading Standards Committee said: “We aim to reduce the amount of antisocial and nuisance behaviour so often reported at this time of year.
“The school visits will help students understand that fireworks can be fun, but only if used at the right time in the right place.”
