HE WAS out and about on the streets of Huddersfield armed with intent.
But Kirklees’ new chief superintendent John Robins only had his sights set on improving police standards.
As reported yesterday he visited neighbourhood policing teams across the district to deliver the first ever 10-point Policing Pledge.
It sets out promises designed to tell people the minimum standard of service they should expect from the police.
But Chief Supt Robins said: “In one way I hope it doesn’t change much because I would hope we are already delivering on the things we are pledging to do.
“But it makes it clear what we are aiming to do and, instead of talking about priorities and objectives and targets, we have distilled down our aims to a really understandable pledge that should influence whatever we do.”
The 10 promises include guarantees to treat people with dignity and respect, to answer 999 calls within 10 seconds and to have regular public meetings to discuss local priorities.
