Have you heard things going bump in the night?

Or perhaps you’ve been told tales about sinister goings-on in the distant past at an old building nearby?

Huddersfield and Halifax-based paranormal investigation team From the Other Side may be able to help you.

The team uses a mixture of psychic mediumship and history to get at the truth, akin to the cult TV show Most Haunted.

From the Other Side (FTOS) comprises mediums Louise Mackay and Lyn Major, historian Calum Mackay and paranormal investigator Rob Wilkinson.

The latest addition to the team is medium Lynsey Crossley, from Lepton, who has been developing her psychic talents over the years.

Lynsey has been on 10 ghost hunts around Britain with FTOS, using seances, ouija boards, table tipping, human pendulums as well as electromagnetic readers, dowsing sticks and other techniques and tools.

But the most memorable – and frightening – hunt was at The Fleece Inn, Elland, in April.

The pub, which began as a farmstead around 1610, has a chequered past and is reputed to be one of West Yorkshire’s most haunted buildings.

The pub is said to have a chair that ‘dances’ and was the site of a murder in the 19th century which left an indelible bloodstain on the inn’s old staircase.

Lynsey, 30, said: “It was very active. The first time we did the table tipping the table tried to go upstairs.

“One of the guests got pushed over into a corner; it was quite scary and the woman was quite stunned.”

FTOS holds its next ghost hunt at The Grove, Skelmanthorpe, on December 6.

The pub is reputed to be the site of bare-knuckle fights and an unlikely suicide.

Lynsey believes having psychic abilities is a gift – even if it nearly ruined her visit to Alton Towers.

Mum-of-three Lynsey said: “I get feelings just walking around places.

“The worst was Hex (a ghost house set in the original Alton Towers stately home). There was a lot going on there.

“It depends upon the spirit. Sometimes I get tingles on my back and an aura. I get thoughts in my head and sometimes I see images or pictures in my head.”

She added: “I get the cynics every day, even my brother says I have an over-active imagination. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but people have left our events with their beliefs changed.”

And ghost hunting isn’t just about discovering doom and decadence.

Lynsey said: “We get everyday people and nice people.

“At a pub in Lincoln, it was a lovely old lady who had died of old age. She was really pleasant.”
