Staff at Westborough High School, Dewsbury, are delighted to report significant improvements in results this year, with 50 per cent of pupils achieving 5 A*- C including English and maths.

Headteacher Jennifer Napper said: "These results are the first since national reforms have been introduced, and schools have had to respond to a number of changes very quickly.

"This year group have been fantastic to work with and have responded well to the support from dedicated teaching staff.

"We have seen massive gains in English, with 67% of pupils achieving C or above - an amazing achievement!

"We have some really positive results and, as this is my first year of headship here, I am  absolutely thrilled.

"We would like to congratulate our pupils and wish them the very best of luck for the future."
