A STUDENT at Huddersfield New College is set to speak in the Commons.

But the Westminster trip is not likely to daunt 16-year-old Kathryn Roe (pictured) – as she has already set foot inside No 10 Downing Street.

Childcare student Kathryn (pictured) met Sarah Brown, wife of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, last year at a reception for youth projects.

Now she and another Huddersfield student, Ben Andrewan, will be joined in a delegation of young people set to meet MPs in the Commons on Thursday.

The meeting is to get their backing for a project called Child Safety Education Coalition, which advocates outdoor activities for youngsters.

Kathryn works with the Elland-based Pitstop 2000 project which involves youngsters in activities including motor workshops, scrambling and kayaking.
