Newborn babies made for unforgettable Christmas Day presents in Huddersfield and Halifax.

A total of five babies brought extra joy on the day when they made their entrances into the world at Calderdale’s birth centre and labour ward.

Rawthorpe couple Hawdang Salih and Dalshad Majid were the first to get their festive baby when she arrived 1:13am in the labour ward, weighing 3.28kg.

The tot is yet to be named, but Hawdang and Dalshad were beaming with excitement about their new family member.

She was followed an hour later by twin girls in the same ward, who will keep Copley mum Faye Lucy Stokes and dad Greg busy over the coming months.

Emma was born at 2:40am, weighing 2.8kg and her sister, Madeleine, joined her at 2:53am.

At 6.56am Hipperholme resident, Olivia Milburn gave birth to Harry, 3.95kg, while with her partner, Dan Royle.

And Meerlal Mukhtar and Mohammed Aun joined in the celebrations at 8:17am, when their little girl made her entrance, weighing 3.32kg.

Midwife, Sharon Nettleton, said: “The babies make Christmas Day all the more magical and it’s wonderful to be able to share that moment with the families.”
