CALDERDALE College’s Inspire Centre will host the first ever International Wheelchair Rugby League game between Ireland and the Exiles.
The Exiles is a team of former professional players and expatriate New Zealanders based in the Halifax area. The event takes place on Saturday, July 15, (11.00am).
The likes of Halifax Rugby League legends Frank ‘The Tank’ Watene, Martin Moana and Brighouse-based Arnie Hema are joining forces to take on the Ireland Wheelchair Rugby League team as the Irish side prepare for the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in July.
Malcolm Kielty, a wheelchair RL stalwart, said: “Being involved in a World Cup is a tremendous honour for anyone and I look forward to ensuring that our squad wears the Irish shirt with pride.
“Wheelchair RL is played in a friendly environment and it would be great to see the local people of Calderdale come out and show their support.”
