Finally, it seems that the Government is going to do something positive and useful towards reducing this country's carbon emissions.
Hooray for that, but isn't it sad that it takes an economist to kick civil servants and politicians up the bottom?
Surely you would think that the threat to our beautiful planet, the risk of destroying it for future generations would be enough to spur us on to change our bad habits.
Haven't the scientists and environmentalists been warning us about global warming for years?
But no. Apparently, it's only the thought that actually this might cost us some money that is the real catalyst to action.
Let's hope that the greed factor will now also have some influence on the USA, which guzzles the most energy per capita than any other country.
All our good green actions would be undermined unless Americans wake up to the reality of global warming and start putting the planet first.
