THE parents of a teenager found badly hurt next to a main Huddersfield road have made a plea for help as their son lies dangerously ill in hospital.

Detectives have revealed that 17-year-old Sean Wilson, of Almondbury, was attacked twice in the days running up to when he was found unconscious on a pavement next to Wakefield Road, Aspley, at about 1.15am on Tuesday.

Now Sean's parents, Deborah and Richard, have urged anyone with information about what has happened to their son to come forward and talk to the police.

Sean remains critically ill in Leeds General Infirmary.

Mrs Wilson said: "Everything possible is being done for Sean. All we would ask is if anyone saw our son, or knows anything about what happened to him, to contact the police."

Mr Wilson added: "If anyone does know something or is too scared to come forward, please ring or get in touch and don't give your name."

It has emerged today that officers have arrested two youths aged 17 and 20 in connection with two incidents in the days before Sean was found unconscious.

They have been questioned and released on bail pending further inquiries.

It is still unclear exactly what happened to Sean. It may be an earlier injury suffered in the previous incidents had suddenly caused him to collapse, or he had been attacked again.

Sean suffered a facial fracture which has led to bleeding in the brain.

Det Supt Phil Sedgewick, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Investigation Team, said: "Sean is currently gravely ill in hospital and has not regained consciousness.

"We need witnesses to come forward and get in touch with us so we can piece information together and find out what happened.

"It could be that he was assaulted prior to being found. Did you witness anything ?

"Were you in the area at the time? If you can help us with our inquiries, then please call."

Police have revealed that witnesses spotted a youth lurking in bushes close to where Sean was walking at the time he was attacked.

He was a young, white, skinny man and was wearing a hooded top.

He was seen to confront someone on the path.

Det Supt Sedgewick said: "Officers want to know if this was Sean that the man walked up to or not.

"We would like the person in the hooded top to get in touch so they can be ruled out of the inquiry.

"We are aware that Sean was assaulted twice previously on two separate occasions and we are looking to see if these incidents have any bearing on things."
