A NEW reception area has opened to welcome visitors to Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium.

The spacious reception area includes a new electronic message board.

The board has been sponsored by pharmaceutical group Galpharm International, the stadium sponsor.

Galpharm chairman Graham Leslie joined stadium chief executive Ralph Rimmer to "fire-up" the board, which will be used to welcome visitors, list daily events and promote future attractions at the venue.

The revamped reception area is decorated with displays recalling Town's championship treble success of the 1920s and Huddersfield's status as the birthplace or Rugby League.

There are also images of Town and Giants heroes and the stadium's role as a venue for concerts by stars including Elton John, Bryan Adams and rock band REM.

The new reception completes a £500,000 facelift for the front of the stadium.

The changes have also included enlarging the sports shop, a new ticket office and providing 5,000sq ft of first floor offices to let to businesses.

Mr Rimmer said: "The reception is the first point of contact for visitors to the stadium and sets the town for everything we do here."
