TELEVISION favourite Doctor Who is returning in a special episode this Christmas.

Little Britain, French and Saunders and the old classic The Two Ronnies will also be among the Christmas offerings of the BBC.

Classic comic trio The Goodies have reunited as the BBC prepares a Christmas steeped in nostalgia.

Films such Toy Story 2, Chicago, Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can will be on offer for those recovering from over-eating and drinking.

Revealing the line-up, BBC director of television Jana Bennett said: "Christmas is one of the biggest times of the year for shared viewing.

"With this in mind, we have put together a line-up that we believe everyone can enjoy together.

"In addition, through our digital channels, we are able to broaden the BBC's holiday line-up by running a rich variety of great comedy, drama and arts that complement the mainstream offering."

Other Christmas specials include Strictly Come Dancing, Songs Of Praise, Catherine Tate and Green Green Grass.

In Rolf on Art, a new portrait of the Queen will be unveiled.
