THE ex-husband of Amy Winehouse is fighting for his life in Dewsbury, after claims he binged on a cocktail of drink and drugs.

Blake Fielder-Civil was found choking in bed by his girlfriend Sarah Aspin last Friday.

The 30-year-old was rushed to Dewsbury and District hospital with multiple organ failure, where doctors induced a coma.

He remains on life-support.

The former drug addict is believed to have gone out drinking with a friend the day before, and Ms Aspin – who is mum to his 15-month-old son, claims he may have taken an illicit substance.

Ms Aspin, 34, who met Fielder-Civil in rehab three years ago, said: "The doctors said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection.

"I’m praying he’ll survive, but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up."

She said the Valerie star’s ex had also attended an appointment with the Probation Service in Morley on Thursday.

This followed his recent jail sentence in HMP Armley, for a burglary which was believed to have fuelled his drugs habit.

He was released two weeks ago with a tag, and claims suggest he was hoping to clean-up his act.

Ms Aspin suggested Fielder-Civil had returned home slurring his words and staggering before being put to bed.

The next morning, the 34-year-old woke to find boyfriend Fielder-Civil unconscious.

After calling the paramedics, they confirmed he had swallowed his tongue and choked on his vomit and needed urgent care.

Fielder-Civil has had a long battle with heroin addiction and also spent time in prison in 2007.

He had married singer Winehouse in the same year before the pair divorced two years later.

Last month marked the first anniversary of her death, with tributes pouring in from around the globe.

She was found at her London home last July and an inquest concluded she had died due to alcohol poisoning.
