WINTER bugs are still going around, despite the early arrival of spring.

NHS Kirklees warned the number of people suffering with flu and vomiting bugs is unusually high for the time of year.

They say the number of sufferers is at the level they would expect to see in the depths of winter.

Director of public health for NHS Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield Primary Care Trust cluster Dr Judith Hooper said the best place for sufferers is to stay at home with simple remedies.

She said: “These winter bugs undoubtedly make you feel rotten.

“But most people will recover from their worst effects within a couple of days if they stay warm, drink plenty and take paracetamol, which is widely available from chemists and shops.

“Only people who develop breathing difficulties or aren’t feeling better after two or three days should go to see their doctor.”
