A MAN was taken to hospital with head injuries after he was assaulted by a gang.

The 44-year-old was beaten up in Mirfield in an early hours attack.

He was walking along Nettleton Avenue at about 3am on February 28 when he was approached by four men.

The victim was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital for treatment.

He was released the following day.

He was only able to describe his attackers as aged about 24. One of them was wearing thick-rimmed glasses.

A man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident, but police still want to talk to any witnesses.
