A 75-YEAR-old woman was mugged in the middle of the day in Lindley.

The theft happened at 1.20pm on Wednesday when the 75-year-old victim was walking along Acre Street near St Stephen’s Church when she was approached by a man.

He asked whether she had change for a pound coin and when she has opened the change section of her purse he has grabbed it from her. He has then removed a number of notes before returning the purse and running off down Occupation Road.

The man is described as aged in his 20s or 30s, with dark complexion with reddening to the face.

Detective Constable Richard Brooke, of Kirklees CID, said: “Thankfully the victim wasn’t hurt but she was shaken by the incident.”

Anyone who witnessed this robbery or who has any other information is asked to call Kirklees CID on 101.
